This is due to protocol and security considerations rather than a contempt for the average person's commute. Royals' safety is of utmost importance, yet using public transportation can be dangerous.

However, there have been a few isolated instances where the royal family has used public transportation to encourage sustainability or foster relationships with everyday people, particularly when they were younger or during special campaigns.
